Searching for Housing in the Palm Desert Area

To explore the many opportunities available to you near to campus, we invite you to visit our on-line Community Living Program located on the UC Riverside Housing Services website at: www.housing.ucr.edu

The on-line Community Living Program can be used for the following types of searches:

  • Roommates Wanted
    A listing of students seeking roommates to share accomodations, including a summary of personal preferences, rent arrangements, and contact information. Often, these students have already secured accomodations and just need another student with whom to share the rent.

  • Roommates Available
    A listing of students who want to share an accommodation with someone who has already secured accommodations, including a summary of personal and rent preferences, as well as contact information. Often, two or more "available" roommates will join up and then search for suitable accommodations together.

  • Vacant Listings
    A listing of vacant rooms available in private homes, as well as specials and current vacancies in apartment communities. These listings include descriptions of accommodations, rent arrangements, availability dates, proximity to campus, and contact information.

Admitted UCR Palm Desert campus students can utilize the Community Living Program free of charge as follows:

  1. Locate the UCR Housing Services website at www.housing.ucr.edu
  2. Click on the Community Living tab at the top of the page.
  3. Students have the ability to do the following:
    1. Submit a Roommate Needed ad.
    2. Submit a Roommate Available ad.
    3. Search the vacant listings.


Private landlords and managers can utilize the Community Living Program to submit a 30-day vacant listing ad, as well as view the vacant listings database by:

  1. Printing, filling out, and mailing the attached Community Living Listing Service application with $10 (Make checks payable to "Regents, UC") to Housing Services Office, 3595 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA 92507.
  2. You will be contacted with a User Name and Password that will allow access to the Program for 30 days.

Affiliates of UCR, such as faculty, staff, and researchers can utilize the Community Living Program to search the Roommate Needed, Roommate Available, and Vacant Listings databases by:

  1. Printing, fillling out, and mailing the attached Community Living Listing Service application with $10 (Make checks payable to "Regents, UC") to Housing Services Office, 3595 Canyon Crest Drive, Riverside, CA 92507.
  2. You will be contacted with a User Name and Password that will allow access to the Program for 30 days.


Property managers and owners of apartment/condominium communities and extended stay hotels can post a general, year round listing for their property with our program AND be given the ability to enter periodic vacancies or specials themselves by contacting UCR Housing Services at 951.827.6350 or info@housing.ucr.edu for more information.
